Commander Paul Bauer, 53, was the commander of the Near North District. He was off-duty when he went to assist other officers who were chasing a man after an altercation. Bauer was fatally shot.
Paul was a PBPA/PBLC member and part of the first Chicago Sergeants contract negotiating team. He was a true leader within the CPD and his loss will be felt throughout the department and the city.
