The Labor Committee is very pleased to announce that Joe Andruzzi has joined our staff as Chicago Metro Counsel.  He will be working alongside attorney Tom Pleines until Tom’s retirement at a later date. 

In addition to his highly diversified background in law enforcement, he also brings a strong educational background in law.  He is a former Marine and recently retired Lieutenant from the Chicago Police Department after 28 years. He served in District Patrol, Gang Crimes, Special Operations and Bicycle Patrol. He has extensive experience in crowd control and the First Amendment as it pertains to protests, and authored and implemented several police training courses specific to crowd control. In addition Joe proposed, drafted and testified on behalf of the Chicago Police Department, and successfully lobbied to pass new legislation as it pertained to police officers throughout the state of Illinois assigned to alternate forms of policing.

Education:  Received his Bachelor of Arts (1997) and Master of Arts (2006) from Northeastern Illinois University; Attended The John Marshall Law School graduating in May 2014, and admitted to the Illinois Bar in November 2014. 

Prior to retirement from the Chicago Police Department, Joe served as a Unit Representative and then President of the Chicago Police Lieutenants’ Association (PBPA 156B).
